Wine Investement opportunities

Scientists from Columbia University in the US are sounding the alarm for the future of viticulture because of the temperature increase on the planet - How the great production of wine from France and California will shift to China and Canada?
Climate change in the entire globe could damage production wine, warn scientists. New research from Columbia University in USA in collaboration with the Nasa Goddard Institute of NASA showed that the growth of temperature on the planet has already affected European industry wine.
The growing climate change has shifted the harvest time which is becoming more delayed which in turns results in destruction of the crop. The study showed that from 1980 onwards the fruit harvest in the vineyards of France is  provided later by two weeks compared to previous years.
Elizabeth Wolkovich, professor at Harvard University and ecologist said climate change has not yet affected the wine industry, but it is matter of time for this to happen. She said: "So far good year (for wine) is a warm year. But the hottest year in France in 2003 forced producers to harvest grapes a month earlier than usual and the harvest was not so good. This event could be a trait marker for what it is to come in the future. "
She argued that climate change and rising global temperatures will shift wine production from places like France and California to other regions, such as China and Canada.
Liz Thach, managment professor, a specialist in the wine business, said that the relative research confirms something that wine producers are already aware of. "Some people, they may still be skeptical about global warming, but not those involved in the wine industry, "the Thach said.
